๐ Drone/UAV Survey
0/5 steps
STEP 1
GCP Planning
STEP 1 โ PLAN GCPS Design Ground Control Point distribution. Why we do this: GCPs tie drone images to real coordinates. Without GCPs, accuracy is poor. Requirements: โข Minimum 5 GCPs (more = better) โข Evenly distributed across area โข In corners and centre โข Visible from air In METARDU Drone Tools: โ Enter survey boundary โ Generate GCP positions โ Export coordinates
STEP 2
GCP Setting Out
STEP 2 โ PLACE GCPs Mark GCPs on ground and measure. Process: โข Navigate to each GCP position โข Place target (panel, paint, marker) โข Survey with total station or GNSS โข Record coordinates Accuracy target: โข < 2cm horizontal โข < 3cm vertical
STEP 3
Flight Planning
STEP 3 โ PLAN FLIGHT Configure drone mission. Settings: โข Flying height (affects GSD) โข Front overlap (75-80%) โข Side overlap (60-70%) โข Grid pattern GSD Calculator: GSD = (sensor width ร flight height) / (focal length ร image width)
STEP 4
Process Data
STEP 4 โ PROCESS IMAGES Run photogrammetry software. Steps: 1. Import images 2. Add GCP coordinates 3. Tie points 4. Generate mesh 5. Create DEM/DSM Software options: โข Pix4D, Agisoft, DroneDeploy
STEP 5
Accuracy Check
STEP 5 โ VERIFY ACCURACY Compare independent check points. In METARDU Drone Tools: โ Enter surveyed coordinates โ Enter drone-computed coordinates โ Calculate RMSE โ Check against accuracy class Classes: โข Class I: โค 7.5cm / 15cm โข Class II: โค 15cm / 30cm โข Class III: โค 37.5cm / 75cm
